The new third-generation Apple TV will include the high-definition, 1080p version of Netflix, in addition to integrated signup and payment, Netflix said Wednesday.
Moreover, the previous, second-generation Apple TV will also add the signup and payment options, Netflix added.
What does this mean? New Netflix customers won't need to sign up for Netflix via the PC and enter their credit card and billing address. Instead, Netflix will read the billing information attached to their iTunes account and simply apply it to Netflix. Netflix charges will appear on the iTunes account.
Once that's done, users will be able to watch "thousands of hours of great movies and television streaming on Netflix in 1080p high definition" via Netflix, the company added in a blog post. Apple allows customers to rent and buy movies and TV shows via iTunes, but did not announce a subscription service that would compete with Netflix.
Apple announced the new 1080p Apple TV at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday, alongside a new iPad with LTE support and a Retina Display.
The new Apple TV includes a new interface, which looks quite a bit like iOS, including icons, apps, and Apple's Cover Flow. The update also means that iTunes in the Cloud now supports movies, providing access to already-purchased movies via iCloud. Users will be able to buy a movie from the iTunes store and watch it instantly on the new high-definition Apple TV. AirPlay will also allow users to stream or mirror content from the iPad or iPhone 4S to the Apple TV.
Netflix began certifying devices for "Netflix HD" last year, with OMAP devices. Netflix movies encoded in standard definition are streamed in that format, but other content can be provided in 720p and up to 1080p, depending on the available bandwidth and the end device. One exception? The RIM Blackberry and the PlayBook tablet, which Netflix has said it will not support.
"Various devices do 1080p HD, including [the Sony] PS3,[Microsoft] Xbox 360, Roku and several mobile devices. It is new to Apple TV but not new to Netflix," a Netflix spokesman said via email.
The new sign up and payment experience on Apple TV is available wherever Netflix is, including in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom and Ireland, Netflix said.

Bridge mortgages are momentary financial instruments can give debt consolidation if utilized to offer financing during times where longer-term personal plans are held off. For example, this type of personal debt can be made use of to assist house buyers purchase real property before one more premises they own has actually sold, or until ample down payment is acquired for a next one. According to Vanguard Properties, the typical time homes remain on the market has indeed risen by as much as 2 months in the last 5 years. This makes buying property much simpler than marketing it, as well as short-term debt, has even more utility for both home vendors as well as loan providers looking for revenue in the interim period of time.
Companies such as Clopton Capital have recently decided to increase their bridge loan activity per PRWeb. More specifically, this is due to the belief that a large distressed property market also means a larger market for this type of financing. In other words, if real estate owners are more focused on saving properties they own rather than letting lenders sell them at a discount via short-sales or foreclosure auctions, then swing loans as they are also called offer a potentially viable short-term solution. Moreover, this also helps borrowers find monetary relief while finding solvency solutions such as higher business revenue or increased personal income.
The nature of the real estate and capital markets has also made bridge loans a useful financial instrument because longer-term financing is more difficult to secure. This is because credit standards are higher, subsidized lending programs have shrunk in size, and downpayment costs have increased. These changes themselves are in response to turmoil in the housing industry and because of regulatory changes such as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that require more stringent borrower net-worth requirements.
Even though bridge loans are shorter term, financial institutions are not always eager to finance them. This is because the mortgages they help facilitate are often dependent on a future transaction that may or may not occur. In other words, if a property does not sell, or a regulatory condition is not met, then the pending larger deal can fall through and a bank may earn less money funding the wrong type of debt instrument. In some cases swing loans are a mechanism offered by private equity firms seeking to negotiate larger, more lucrative deals, but commercial lenders offer them in the form of cross-collateralized loans or indirectly via re-purposed second mortgages.
If a swing loan is not collateralized, then it is unsecured and the interest rate or cost of the debt will be higher. Private financiers or hard money lenders have more freedom than more regulated financial institutions when making deals and are therefore more likely to be able to offer unsecured financing. However, this can come at a price in excess of 10 percent if the risk factor is high. This risk is dependent on the nature of the deal, and the underlying reasons for seeking capital. For example, short-term capital used to finance a distressed property carries a higher risk than the same used to provide cash flow for an otherwise solvent business.

AVENTURA, Fla. (AP) ? If Peyton Manning wants to talk about playing quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, Dan Marino would be thrilled to take his call.
And just in case, Marino has his sales pitch ready.
"There's great tradition there. We've had a couple off years but believe me, they'll be back," said Marino, the Hall of Famer who threw for 420 touchdowns and more than 61,000 yards in his Dolphins career. "It's a great franchise and they'll get it turned around."
Manning would almost certainly help in that quest, which largely started when Marino retired more than a decade ago.
From the moment the four-time MVP parted with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, buzz about Manning has been growing in Miami ? much of it fueled by the quarterback's arrival in South Florida shortly after becoming an NFL free agent for the first time. Manning insists he doesn't know what his next move will be, and Marino believes him.
"I think he fits with anybody," Marino said Thursday at a charity golf tournament. "He's one of the best to ever play the game at that position. So wherever he ends up playing, if he's healthy, which is going to be important to Peyton, I'm sure he wants to go out there and play at a high level. Wherever he plays, he'll be a huge impact for that team."
The Dolphins are believed to be one of the teams interested in adding Manning; Miami plays a game at Indianapolis next season. Washington, Arizona, Seattle, Denver and Kansas City also are likely to talk to him, along with the Jets ? the team that shares a stadium with the Giants and Manning's two-time, Super Bowl-winning brother Eli. ESPN reported Thursday that Manning will make a decision within the next week and wants to stay in the AFC.
"I know he likes the weather here in Miami, but I have no idea where he's going to go," said wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who caught 10 touchdown passes from Manning in 2009 and 2010. "I could not tell you anything."
Added Reggie Wayne, who has been working out with Manning: "I don't know. Ask Peyton."
Manning's arrival in Miami doesn't necessarily mean the Dolphins are front-runners to get him. He owns a condo in Miami Beach, where television crews were staked out Thursday.
"He does like his privacy ? and he's not going to have much of it until everyone finds out where he's going to go," Garcon said.
Why keep playing?
"He's a competitor. He loves the game. He loves winning," Garcon said. "You can never have enough Super Bowl rings. He wants to win and he wants to keep playing. ... When you walk in a stadium with Peyton, you have at least a fighting chance to win a game."
After the Colts decided not to pick up Manning's $28 million bonus, team owner Jim Irsay ended months of speculation by releasing the 14-year veteran and longtime face of the franchise. Indianapolis likely will find Manning's replacement in April's draft, presumably Stanford's Andrew Luck. The Colts have the first overall pick.
Manning missed the entire 2011 season because of a damaged nerve that caused weakness in his right arm. He had the most recent of his multiple neck surgeries on Sept. 8.
Once the fusion has healed, the bone is as strong as any other in his neck, if not stronger, several doctors said.
"Did it heal? Is the rest of his neck in pretty good shape? If those two answers are yes, then it gets down to 'OK, get out on the field and show me you can perform,' because it will only get better from here with time," said Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr., a spine specialist who has treated NHL star Sidney Crosby and Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones.
For the time being, the Manning watch is consuming Miami.
Dwyane Wade reached out to Manning on Twitter, and LeBron James took time in a postgame television interview after the Heat beat Atlanta on Wednesday night to briefly sell Manning on the merits of South Florida.
Will Marino call him?
"I probably wouldn't do that unless he asks for some advice," Marino said. "And he has plenty of people that he's working with to help him make the right decisions."
Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter said if Manning says he's healthy enough to play, then that's good enough for him.
"He's a great football player," Carpenter said. "I definitely think having Peyton Manning won't hurt your chances. ... Obviously, I don't know how hard we're pursuing him. It's hard to say what Peyton Manning's thinking. I'm sure he's going to talk to his family, think about himself and think about where he wants to be and make that decision."

In the March 2012 edition of National Geographic Magazine, Peter Gwin examines the black market trade of rhino horns, a rare commodity coveted for use in traditional Asian medicines. The practice of hunting rhinos for their horns has decimated the population of several species, and laws to dissuade their hunting have led to organized crime circuits now slaughtering the animals; in some instances, even sawing off live animals' horns. From Peter Gwin's report:
AND SO GOES A NIGHT on the front lines of southern Africa's ruthless and murky rhino war, which since 2006 has seen more than a thousand rhinos slaughtered, some 22 poachers gunned down and more than 200 arrested last year in South Africa alone. At the bloody heart of this conflict is the rhino's horn, a prized ingredient in traditional Asian medicines. Though black market prices vary widely, as of last fall dealers in Vietnam quoted prices ranging from $33 to $133 a gram, which at the top end is double the price of gold and can exceed the price of cocaine.
Although the range of the two African species?the white rhino and its smaller cousin, the black rhino?has been reduced primarily to southern Africa and Kenya, their populations had shown encouraging improvement. In 2007 white rhinos numbered 17,470, while blacks had nearly doubled to 4,230 since the mid '90s.
For conservationists these numbers represented a triumph. In the 1970s and '80s, poaching had devastated the two species. Then China banned rhino horn from traditional medicine, and Yemen forbade its use for ceremonial dagger handles. All signs seemed to point to better days. But in 2008 the number of poached rhinos in South Africa shot up to 83, from just 13 in 2007. By 2010 the figure had soared to 333, followed by over 400 last year. Traffic, a wildlife trade monitoring network, found most of the horn trade now leads to Vietnam, a shift that coincided with a swell of rumors that a high-ranking Vietnamese official used rhino horn to cure his cancer.
Meanwhile in South Africa, attracted by spiraling prices?and profits?crime syndicates began adding rhino poaching to their portfolios.

'I felt like I deserved it two years ago,' Bad Boy rapper tells 'RapFix Live.' By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

French Montana has been grinding for years, but to many the XXL Freshman is still a relative newcomer. Though he has more than a dozen mixtapes, Montana has yet to release his debut album — it's scheduled to drop July 17. Still, French initially felt he had surpassed the current crop of rap rookies and almost turned down the cover opportunity, until he thought about it a little more.
"I kinda like wasn't gonna do it, because I felt like I deserved it two years ago, last year. You know how that goes," French told Sway on Wednesday's episode of "RapFix Live."
After a meeting with the magazine's staff, French changed his mind and agreed to shoot the cover with rappers like his Bad Boy labelmate Machine Gun Kelly, Iggy Azalea and Future. "They were like, 'This is based upon if you don't have an album out.' But to me I looked at it as another stepping stone because I respect everything they do," French told Sway. "I said, 'I really don't have no album out and I'm still like a rookie to the mainstream world.' "
It's been a long road for the Morocco-born, Bronx, New York-raised rapper. Wanting to make a name for himself, French started a series of street-flavored DVD documentaries that he branded "Cocaine City" in 2003. He covered the hottest rap talent but created a platform where he could show off his own music as well.
The tactic worked, but it did have some setbacks. "My vision for that was a platform for me to showcase my talent," he said. "When we were doin' the 'Cocaine City' DVDs, we kinda like attacked a lot of rappers, because, you know, negativity spreads faster. So you did what you had to do. So it backfired on me when I was trying to rap."
Frenchie feels that his negative coverage of other MCs caused him to be blackballed in the industry, but he continued to put out music. Now his "Shot Caller" single is climbing up the Billboard rap charts and the release of his debut album, Excuse My French, will be overseen by Diddy and Rick Ross. And, of course, French Montana appears on the XXL Freshman cover. Things are looking up.
What do you think of French Montana's inclusion on the 2012 XXL Freshman cover? Tell us in the comments!
