Get Customized look for Your Car Through Auto Trim Molding ...

auto trim molding is done for your car body, headlights, tail lights, doors with wide range of styles, colors or materials. For this molding proper care should be taken like each time you wash up your car make sure you wash the trim and moldings of your vehicle. Periodical cleaning is required on the trim and molding dressing. To prevent your vehicle from future UV degradation you need to protect the trim pieces with vinyl, rubber and plastic shield.

No matter how hard we try to protect our vehicle from scratches it keeps on adding. To avoid these little damages touch up paint is available which removes those scratches and elude costly repairs. Before applying paint make sure it matches your vehicle by testing. These paints are available in both bottle and spray cans. Spray painting works best when bottle paints cannot reach the point we need. lug nuts are a fastener that is used to protect the wheels in vehicles using rubber tires. The importance of lug nut is that it gives pressure on the stud coming out thus forcing the wheel to be in the position. Lug Nuts are required to keep moisture away from stud and wheel itself. The sitting area of this nut should be longer and it should provide security to the wheels.

Europe's top clubs avoid big deadline-day signings

LONDON (AP) -European football's January transfer window closed Tuesday with clubs reining in the lavish spending of recent years in an apparent response to UEFA's strict new financial controls.

While 225 million pounds (then $362 million) was spent last January by English clubs alone, barely 50 million pounds was outlayed by them this month.

"It looks like economically the whole of Europe is becoming a bit more cautious," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said.

UEFA revealed last week that the total debt of 665 European clubs had hit $11 billion.

Manchester City alone has invested more than $1 billion on new players in a little more than three years, but the Abu Dhabi owners have curbed their spending and prioritized losing some big earners as it looks to slash a recent annual loss of 195 million pounds ($308 million).

The only incoming deal by City manager Roberto Mancini on Tuesday was to sign 32-year-old David Pizarro on loan from Roma for the rest of the season to bolster his midfield options as the league leaders suffered a setback in their title ambitions with a 1-0 loss at Everton.

Defender Wayne Bridge was sent to Sunderland on loan, although City was unable unload troublesome striker Carlos Tevez, who has not featured for the club since an act of rebellion during a Champions League match in September.

One club interested in Tevez was French leader Paris Saint-Germain, which has been embarking on its own spending spree since the last offseason under Qatari ownership.

Despite pursuing a string of leading players - including David Beckham and AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato - PSG has failed to capture the superstar it craves, although signing midfielder Thiago Motta from Inter Milan on Tuesday will help to soften the blow.

Motta's reported ?10 million signing took PSG's spending this season to more than ?100 million ($131 million), with defenders Maxwell and Alex having joined for a combined ?12 million earlier this month.

"It's normal that it's more difficult to sign someone in Ligue 1 than in Spain or in England," PSG sporting director Leonardo said. "But things can change."

PSG's plans, though, could be curtailed by the looming threat of expulsion from the Champions League for overspending clubs.

In an initial two-year monitoring period that started in July 2011, UEFA's rules allow clubs to make a total loss in the first assessment period up to ?45 million ($58 million). But persistent loss-makers can first be barred from the 2014-15 Champions League.

"Financial fair play has definitely had an impact (in the transfer window)," said Alan Switzer, director of the sports business group at Deloitte. "The 2011-12 season does now count towards the UEFA rules and that will be part of the consideration which clubs will be giving to any transfer."

Former Chelsea chief executive Trevor Birch, who is head of accountancy firm PKF's football side, highlighted uncertainty about how the new rules will be enforced.

"Until these important questions are answered, clubs with a realistic prospect of making it into Europe are going to err on the side of caution and rein in their spending," Birch said. "Many of the top teams have also finally started taking meaningful steps to get their costs under control in response to continued pressure on revenues."

Tottenham was the busiest leading Premier League club on Tuesday but avoided a late splurge despite being third in the league.

Louis Saha arrived from Everton but another striker, Roman Pavlyuchenko, was sold to Lokomotiv Moscow. Two players were sent on loan for the rest of the season: defender Sebastien Bassong to Wolverhampton Wanderers and midfielder Steven Pienaar to old club Everton.

Queens Park Rangers tried to ensure it isn't relegated from the Premier League after only one season by signing two strikers: former Liverpool player Djibril Cisse from Lazio and Bobby Zamora from Fulham.

Zamora was replaced at Fulham by Russia striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, who joined from Stuttgart.

Midfielder Marcus Olsson has joined his twin brother Martin at relegation-threatened Blackburn after signing from Swedish side Halmstad.

Chelsea spent 50 million pounds (then $80 million) a year ago on striker Fernando Torres, who has failed to deliver and contributed to a loss of 67.7 million pounds ($109 million) in the last financial year that was announced on Tuesday.

Chelsea's only major business on this deadline day was signing winger Kevin De Bruyne for a reported 9 million pounds ($14 million) from Racing Genk, but he will remain with the Belgian club on loan for the rest of the season.

In Spain, pacesetters Real Madrid and Barcelona were also quiet, although Barca reached a deal with Alexander Hleb to release the Belarus midfielder from his contract.

In Italy, clubs, players and agents gathered at a Milan hotel and the city's two clubs were the busiest.

Inter Milan signed Porto midfielder Fredy Guarin and Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo, while Sulley Muntari moved on loan to AC Milan.

Serie A leader Juventus signed midfielder Padoin from Atalanta for almost ?5 million ($6.6 million).

For some players, Tuesday was the last time to leave clubs where they aren't playing regularly ahead of the European Championship. Croatia defender Vedran Corluka joined Bayer Leverkusen after only three league appearances for Tottenham this season.

Blake Griffin Dunk: The Best Ever?

LeBron James, Blake Griffin will see your alley-oop over John Lucas III and raise you a ridiculous poster-ization of Kendrick Perkins.

Just one day after the Miami Heat small forward literally jumped over an opponent to jam home a lob, the Los Angeles Clippers superstar took to the air and slammed one so forcefully over one of the best defenders in the league that many aren't wondering if it's Griffin's best dunk ever.

They are wondering if it's the best dunk in the history of the NBA. Watch in awe for yourself now:

LeBron appears happy to hand Blake the crown, Tweeting (in his new, irritating, third person style) last night after watching the play above:

Michelle Obama: Why is she going on Jay Leno? (The Christian Science Monitor)

Los Angeles ? Hollywood is getting ready for an Obama sighting.

This will advance the president?s agenda, political analysts say, as well as bring in money for his campaign, amass much-needed face time beyond the Washington Beltway, and help sell the Obama brand name.

The sighting will come in the form of wife, Michelle, appearing on ?The Tonight Show With Jay Leno? on Tuesday. She?s also taping a segment for ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show,? which will air Thursday.

IN PICTURES: Michelle Obama's fashion

The ostensible reason for her visit is to celebrate the second anniversary of ?Let?s Move!,? her campaign against childhood obesity. But the appearances will have a large spillover effect, many say.

"It's always helpful when a First Lady appears on television in an election year ? especially when she's as articulate and passionate in her causes as Michelle Obama,? says Fordham University communications professor Paul Levinson in an e-mail.

?Whether she talks about the dangers of childhood obesity or any other public interest issue, the First Lady's appearance on television will only help the President, by reinforcing his image as a committed family man, and showing he's not just a politician but a real person just like everyone else,? writes Professor Levinson, who is also the author of ?New New Media.?

In addition to those appearances, Mrs. Obama is scheduled for two fundraisers, in Beverly Hills and Hancock Park. The thousands of dollars that people like George Clooney and Steven Spielberg can drop for such an event are pocket change to them. No word on exactly who the glitterati will be at Nicole Avant and Ted Sarandos?s private home in Beverly Hills, but Ms. Avant raised millions for President Obama?s 2008 campaign.

Moreover, on Wednesday, Mrs. Obama will be featured at a nonpublic event at a market to help spotlight the California FreshWorks Fund, which has provided $20 million to bring fresh and healthy food to urban communities not served by supermarkets.

While some caution that political wives have to be cautious on a late-night comedy show for possible gaffes that can go viral on the Internet, most feel that Obama is right in her element.

?These are fluff interviews with audiences that are totally simpatico with Michelle?s activism and as a bright, charming person in her own right,? says Barbara O?Connor, director emeritus of the Institute for the Study of Politics and Media at California State University, Sacramento. ?There is zero downside to this for her and the White House. None.?

This will be an opportunity, she says, to counter several depictions advanced about Obama in the recent book ?The Obamas,? written by New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor. The book portrays Mrs. Obama as awkwardly accommodating of Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff, and as competing with cabinet members for influence over her husband.

?She is totally convincing and charming in settings like these,? says Ms. O?Connor of the talk-show format. ?She shows exactly how smart and articulate she can be.?

Others see more to look for in such an appearance.

?Michelle Obama appearing on Ellen's show reflects how far the US has come,? says Ben Agger of the University of Texas at Arlington, in an e-mail. ?A smart and fit black woman hosted by a smart and funny lesbian should give us hope that the politics of hate are behind us.?

Dr. Agger, who is director of the Center for Theory in the sociology department, also writes, ?[T]he ratings won't hurt a certain someone's reelection campaign.?

Asian stocks rise as investors watch Europe (AP)

BEIJING ? Asian stocks rose Tuesday as traders watched for a possible deal to cut Greece's debts and Japanese factory output rebounded.

Benchmark oil rose above $99 per barrel while the dollar fell against the euro and the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 rose 0.1 percent to 8,806.06 after data showed December industrial activity rose 4 percent over the previous month. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.7 percent to 20,304.48 and Seoul's Kospi was up 0.1 percent at 1,942.82.

Traders watched Europe, a major export market, following reports Greece and its creditors were close to a deal to cut its debts. Also Monday, European leaders agreed on a new treaty meant to stop overspending and put an end to the region's crippling debt woes.

"Everyone is watching the European summit and how the Greek debt crisis comes out," said Jackson Wong at Tanrich Securities in Hong Kong. "The general atmosphere is to play a wait-and-see game."

China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.2 percent at 2,289.42 ahead of Wednesday's release of a key manufacturing index. Investors are hoping for a loosening of credit curbs or other measures to boost growth if it shows activity is slowing amid lackluster global demand for Chinese goods.

Benchmarks in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and India rose while Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand fell. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.2 percent to 4,266.10.

European markets tumbled Monday on concerns Greece's financial problems might not be solved even if creditors agree to cancel part of its debt.

Under a tentative agreement, investors holding 206 billion euros ($272 billion) in Greek bonds would exchange them for bonds with half the face value. The replacement bonds would have a longer maturity and pay a lower interest rate. When the bonds mature, Greece would have to pay its bondholders only 103 billion euros.

France's CAC-40 shed 1.6 percent while Britain's FTSE 100 and Germany's DAX both lost 1 percent.

Wall Street fell in early trading but Asian investors were encouraged after the Dow Jones industrial average recovered most of its losses to close down just 0.1 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 lost 0.8 percent.

Borrowing costs for European countries with the heaviest debt burdens shot higher. The two-year interest rate for Portugal's government debt jumped to 21 percent after trading around 14 percent last week.

Portugal may become the next country "where default is a real possibility," said Martin Hennecke of Tyche Group in Hong Kong.

"The euro zone crisis is far from being fixed at all. Italy and Spain are effectively bankrupt as well," Hennecke said. "For Asia, that means there is huge uncertainty in terms of export markets."

The treaty agreed to Monday by all European Union governments except Britain and the Czech Republic includes strict debt brakes and is aimed at making it harder for violators to escape sanctions. The 17 countries in the eurozone hope the tighter rules will restore confidence in their joint currency.

The agreement comes as richer countries such as Germany are losing patience with giving Athens loans, saying the Greek government is not carrying out reforms and spending cuts fast enough. A German official proposed having an EU monitor oversee Greek spending but that idea was quickly rejected at Monday's meeting in Brussels.

Benchmark oil for March delivery gained 37 cents to $99.39 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 78 cents to end at $98.78 per barrel on the Nymex on Monday.

In currencies, the euro rose to $1.3191 from $1.3114 late Monday in New York. The dollar fell to 76.17 yen from 76.25 yen.

4-week vaccination regimen knocks out early breast cancer tumors

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania report that a short course of vaccination with an anti-HER2 dendritic cell vaccine made partly from the patient's own cells triggers a complete tumor eradication in nearly 20 percent of women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), an early breast cancer. More than 85 percent of patients appear to have a sustained immune response after vaccination, which may reduce their risk of developing a more invasive cancer in the future. The results of the study were published online this month of Cancer and in the January issue of the Journal of Immunotherapy.

The researchers say the results provide new evidence that therapeutic breast cancer vaccines may be most effective for early, localized disease, and when the treatment goes after a protein critical to cancer cell survival.

"I think these data more than prove that vaccination works in situations where the target is right," says the study's leader, Brian Czerniecki, MD, PhD, surgical director of the Rena Rowan Breast Center at the University of Pennsylvania and Surgical Director of the Immunotherapy Program for the Abramson Cancer Center. "Previous vaccines targeted tissue antigens that were expressed on the cancer cells, but were not necessary for tumor survival. So a vaccine response would cause the tumor to just stop expressing the antigen and the tumor would be fine. Here we're going after HER2/neu, which is critical for survival of early breast cancers. If we knock it out with the immune response, we cripple the tumor cells."

Czerniecki and colleagues enrolled 27 women with HER2-positive DCIS. They isolated specialized white cells from the patients' blood using standard apheresis techniques similar to the blood donation process. Once isolated, the researchers activated the dendritic cells, which are key regulators of the immune system, and primed them with small pieces of the HER2/neu protein. Each patient then received four shots, one week apart, of their personalized anti-HER2 vaccine. And two weeks later patients had surgery to remove any remaining disease, which is standard care for DCIS patients.

The new approach has several critical advantages, compared to testing a vaccine in patients with more advanced disease. First, the activated immune cells have fewer tumor cells to kill. Second, patients' immune systems are still responsive, unlike advanced cancer patients whose immune systems have been suppressed by their disease. Third, the investigators are able to see results quickly, by looking at serum and tumor biomarkers.

In fact, when the team compared pre-vaccination biopsy samples with post-vaccination surgical samples, they saw dramatic changes: Five patients had no disease visible at the time of surgery, indicating that their immune system had wiped out the tumor. Of the remaining 22 patients, HER2 expression was eliminated in half (11 patients), and reduced by 20 percent or more in another two. "We are continuing to see this pattern in our second, ongoing trial," Czerniecki says.

When the team looked at immune responses, they found that 85 percent of patients had HER2-reactive CD4 and CD8 T cells, suggesting that the patients developed a robust and relatively complete immune response after vaccination. Importantly, some patients maintained their immune responses as long as 52 months, which means that they continue to have some protection from recurrence of HER2-positive disease ? a key insurance policy for patients, since doctors currently are unable to accurately predict which women are likely to develop invasive breast cancer following a DCIS diagnosis.

The results of the study show the vaccine is safe and relatively easy for the women, with only low-grade side effects. The most common side effects were malaise (72 percent), injection site soreness (59 percent), chills or rigors (38 percent), fever (28 percent) and headaches (24 percent).

While the numbers of patients treated in the trial are relatively small, Czerniecki thinks they will have some idea whether the vaccination reduces the risk of disease recurrence within the next two years. In the meantime, the team continues enrolling patients in a larger study, is designing another study to test the approach in women with early invasive breast cancer, and also plans to test vaccination with additional antigens, including HER3 and HER1.

"I think if we target several of the HER2 family members, we'll drive the tumor to a place where it has nowhere to go," Czerniecki says. "Basically, we'll push it over a cliff because those pathways are critical for tumor survival."

Czerniecki notes that what the team is learning in DCIS is applicable to invasive breast cancer, and to other solid tumors that rely on the HER family of signaling proteins, including melanoma, lung, brain, and colon cancers.
